George McHaffie, Esq. [Esquire].
025 A standing stone about 5 feet high of an irregular shape around its are 5 others of granite; at a few yards distance froming a rude circle. William Livingston of Drumnesket is of opinion this place is of great antiquity and probably was used as a burying ground or a place where justice was dispensed. It does in a great measure resemble a circle which is to be seen at Torhouse in Wigtown Parish, but not so complete, the high stone to which the name applies is no granite. It is on the farm of Derry. Situate about 15 chains North of Eldrig Loch.
