There was a church in Kintyre called Kilcowan which was evidently dedicated to the Same Saint. caledonia vol. [volume] 3 P. [Page] 433 In the Statl. [Statistical] Account published 1841 the minister of Kirkinner Parish States. "The popular tradition respecting the name of the parish (of KirKinner) is as follows. In former times the parish of KirKinner included in it what now forms the parish of KirKcowan. The clergyman preached two Sundays at the church in the Southern part of the Parish and the next in a another place of worship in the northern part of the parish. In those days one was distinguished as the Inner Kirk hence the name KirKinner; the other was called the outer Kirk which in course of time was changed to KirKcowan & now forms the parish of that name"
