This name applies to a part of Soulseat Burn at the part where it flows from Soulseat Loch there appears to have been a ford sometime ago across the Small Burn at this place there is a passage across it at present with a pen under which the Stream runs. The following notice is in the Statistical account of Scotland for this parish "The Loch of Soulseat was called in former times the Green Loch and an outlet is still called the Green Ford. At certain seasons the loch is overspread with a green Seedlike substance but whether of a vegetable or mineral matter I have not ascertained
