A large house built with brick plain unornamented Style but irregularly constructed additions having been made to the original building from time to time originally a part of the building was occupied as a barrack by a corps of cavalry Kept by Marshal Stair (it appears at his own expense) the other part consists of the Marshals own residence but it is much improved and altered Since that time. The building (when viewed from an eminence at a distance) presents the appearance of a cluster of cottages closely connected the building is 2 Stories high & parts of it only one Storey. it is surrounded by wood and ornamental ParKs pleasure grounds &c. with a large Demesne chiefly wooded with young & thriving plantations there are also some old woods of long standing these lands & the grounds around Castle Kennedy are connected. It is expected to form an extensive Demesne .
