There is the following entry
"George Campbell for 'ballsirroche' 0101
Ane hundrethe ane punds (Scots)
The Name is so spelt in the public records
and when in that part of the County
I hear the lands always called Balsarrock
and I thinK it the proper name-
In the County there are two
large farms invariably called & [Known]
by the name of "Barsalloch"the one in
Mochrum parish the property of Sir [William]
Maxwell and the other in Penninghame
pertaining to the Earl of Galloway and [in]
KirKcolm Parish there is another Farm [of]
the name of "BalscallocK" - Wigtown 1 April
