005 | [Situation] About 11½ chains SW. [South West] of the parish Church This well is situated in the S. [South] of the village about 5 chains N.E. [North East] of the Free Church and on the N. [North] side of a small burn running E. [East] ward through Wall House grounds, it is a spring of excellent water, having a few steps leading down to it and enclosed by stone work. It derives its name from an Old woman having lived in the house on the S. [South] side of the stream whose name was Mary Bailie, long since dead. It is a well Known name |
