This is a continuation of Drumtassie Burn which divides the Counties of StirLing & Linlithgow. It takes the name of Linmill Burn after it passes Drumtassie Bridge, and retains the name until it joins the Aron Water about ½ a mile N. E. [North East] of Linmill Fall. |

[Situtation] A few chains north of Lin-Mill Bridge
A very fine waterfall, natural formation in Linmill Burn, which is a continuation of Barbachlaw Burn, and this Stream, dividing the Counties of Stirling and Linlithgow takes its name from Lin Mill situated close to the Fall in the former County. The Stream from Linmill Bridge is thickly studded with rocks and boulders and the cataract may be said to be two distinct falls, the first is a gradual slope of jutting rocks & boulders until the commencement of the principal fall which falls sheer down apparantly about 50 feet, it is slightly curved outward between bank & bank and is one complete mass of huge projecting rocks and boulders and terminates abruptly with a clear line of |

It is considered in the locality to be superior to the Falls of Clyde; both sides of the Stream is Clothed with a thriving mixed Wood, and in time of flood the falls must be a grand and imposing Spectacle. |

A stone bridge of one Arch spanning the Linmill Burn about 3 chains S. [South] of Linmill Fall and on the road to Falkirk. The arch is high and the roadway is very narrow not being more than 16 links. It is not a modern structure, but the date of its erection is not known. |

The first stone of this structure was laid on the 11th of April 1854 and is composed of 16 arches, 12 large ones of about 47 feet span and two small ones at each end, it is about 660 feet long and is 60 feet to the top of the Arch from the bed of the Avon Water which runs through a wide but not very deep glen at this place - and is better than a quarter of a mile W. [West] of where the Logie Water joins the Avon which is the boundary between the Counties of Stirling & Linlithgow.
