010 | [Situation] About 36 Chains N by E [North by East] of the village of Livingston Livingstone Castle was formerly a stronghold of the Cunninghams; it was surrounded by a moat about thirty feet wide, portions of which remained entire till about the middle of last century, at present there is not a vestige of it remaining. The building called Livingstone House was built on the site of the castle, but was pulled down when it became the property of the Earl of Roseberry. |
