This Well which is now partly choked with weeds is situated in a field about a ¼ mile E.N.E. [East North East] of Newyearfield farmstead - it appears to have been formerly enclosed by stonework which has fallen in. It is a fine spring & winter & summer there is a small stream always issuing from it. It is said to derive its name from the Kings of applying it as a specific for the Rose or Kings Evil, before sunrise on New Year's day - A Tower or Hunting Lodge is said to have stood adjacent at New Yearfield which they made use of on these occasions - The water has neither the color or taste of a mineral.
