009 ; 010 | [Situation] In the extreme north end of the parish of Livingston The village is situated on the north side of the road from Edinburgh to Glasgow, about a mile S. [South] west from Uphall. It is formed by a number of Cottages with garden grounds - and occupied for the most part by the proprietors - who are principally engaged in farm labour. Besides a public house and grocer's shop, there are a smithy and Cartwrights shop. North of the Village is a saw mill driven by water. The school for the village is in the adjoining parish of Uphall and is called Binny School The nearest post office is in Uphall |
