This is the mansion house of the Estate of Preston. It is an elegant mansion erected in an Ornamental Gothic style of Architecture - with Pinnacles &c - and is surrounded by pleasure grounds, Gardens and trees; the offices, which are a little East from the Mansion, are very extensive and of excellent construction. It is the property and Residence of Alexander Seton Esq.

A small stream which rises at the N.E. [North East] side of Cocklerue and is the continuation of Mailing Burn & flows Northwards to a Reservoir; thence to a Milldam near Preston House; it thence passes beneath the surface and Issues at the N.W. [North West] side of Preston Ho. [House] and flows thence Northwards to the Union Canal where it takes the name of Mains Burn.
