[South East] of the River Avon; it is three Storeys high with a Small Courtyard Surrounded on all sides And is entered by An Arched Gateway, the grounds around the house are Well Wooded but not very Ornamental, the house is in excellent repair. In front of the house on the flat along the river side the battle of Linlithgow Bridge Commenced in 1526, and near which the River was forded by the Lennox party. Opposite the ancient Priory of Manuel, in Stirlingshire. The Stables & a large Vegetable are a short distance W. [West] of the house. |
