005 | [Situation] About 27 Chains W by N [West by North] of West Port. A long narrow glen N.E. [North East] of Stock Bridge and terminating close on the S.W.[South West] of Longcroft House. It is formed by two small ridges of hill & On the One N.[North] is a trig [trigonometrical] Station. There was formerly a pond in the bottom of this glen but has been drained Many Years ago by the tenant Mr. J Inglis. Here it is said Courts of Justice were held in former Ages from which probably the name Arose. |
