[situation] Passing through the Southern portion if the parish of Kirkliston
A branch railway extending from the Bathgate Junction a short distance west of the Ratho Station on the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway, to Bathgate a distance of 10¾ miles. This line though constructed by a distinct Company is now held on lease by the Edinburgh & Glasgow Railway Company on condition of paying 4 per cent per annum on the shares to the former company The lease I understand is a very long one and therefore the lease is considered in some degree a branch of the Edin [Edinburgh] and Glasgow Railway - It is simply called the Bathgate Branch by the Company's Servants. |
