SITE OF BANGOUR HOUSE Site of Bangour House Mr. J. Glen W [West] Bangour
Mr. Enoch Glen W [West] Bangour
Revd [Reverend] John Smith Ecclesmachan
009 This is the Site of the ancient House of Bangour for many Centuries the Residence of the Hamiltons of Bangour, and said to be the birthplace of The Poet Hamilton - one of the Same family. -
The Site is surrounded by several large trees marking, as is supposed, the Extent of the Garden attached to the Mansion House. The Site can only be traced by some slight elevations in the Surface as of foundations of Walls; and was pointed out to me by the present Occupiers of the Farm, of West Bangour, on which it is situated; They have Occupied the Farm for nearly 40 years. They are I. & E. Glen - Brothers. This was Confirmed by the Revd [Reverend] John Smith of Ecclesmachan and agreed to.
