March 1855 The demesne around Dalmeny House belonging to the Earl of Roseberry is Called Dalmeny Park and comprehends that part of the parish of Cramond in the county of Linlithgow together with a considerable portion of Dalmeny Ph. [Parish]. The name of this demesne has not been written on the plans, at present sent to the O. M. O. [Ordnance Map Office] owing to a doubt arising as to the [continued on next page 1b]

OS1/34/17/3 CRAMOND Parish of Cramond See Name Books & Plans for Co. Edinb. [County Edinburgh] 003 [situation] Situated partly on each side of the River Almond adjoining the Firth of Forth. A parish situated on the South Side of the Firth of Forth partly in the County of Linlithgow but by far the greater part in the County of Edinburgh, bounded by Kirkliston and Dalmeny on the west and by Corstorphine and St. Cuthberts on the South and St. Cuthberts on the east. The whole extent [is] from Almond Toll Bar to Wardi [Wardie ?] is from 6 to 7 miles in length, while it varies in breadth from 1 to 2. Towards the north and east the Surface is flat interdispersed with gentle eminences. The southern & western part is more hilly and broken. The two small islands of Cramond and Inchmickery belong to the parish. Ironstone is found along the coast and there are numerous seams of Coal. but though pits have been frequently sunk they have been given up on account of the badness of the Coal' his parish formerly a vicarage is in the presbytery of Edinburgh and Synod of Lothian and Tweeddale, Patron Ramsay of Barnton. There are no detached portions of Cramond Ph. [Parish] except the above mentioned Islands nor are there any detached portion or portions of any other parish within the [Parish] of Cramond.
