009 [situation] 19 chains SSW [South South West] of Kirkton House.
This is the remains of an ancient church, the origins & dedicatory name, if any, are lost in obscurity nor is there any tradition in the locality relating to it - the remains of the walls are about 9 feet high & devoid of architectural ornament - in the E [East] end is a stone figure of a priest reclining at full length, it was dug up in the interior two years ago and on the S [South] side of the Ruins is the tomb of James Davie, a Covenanter who was shot at Blackdub, April 1673 - There is a grave Yard attached.
