009 [Situation] In the north side of the town of Bathgate.
A small prison formerly the old Meal]Market, standing at the head of Hill Street. It contains three Cells for the confinement of offenders for one night only previous to their removal to Linlithgow. It also contains a room that was formerly used for the Confinement of debtors, but is now used as a kind of store room, debtors being removed to Linlithgow - it is in charge of the head Constable and is enclosed by a wall about 16 feet high.

A very fine two storey house in Hopetoun Street the principal one in the town - it has excellent accommodations for travellers - having good stabling attached, it is also a posting house.
