This name applies to a range of small knowes on the north east side of the town of Bathgate. near their south end are to be seen two standing stones - These stones are said to mark the spot where a bloody battle was fought between the Romans and the Caledonians.

Note. There is not sufficient authority to warrant
the writing "site of Battle" on plan. There were no remains
found to indicate that it was a battlefield except
under one of the Standing Stones there was a human
skeleton found, which evidently indicate that the
stones are stones of memorial.
