Revd. [Reverend] A. Currie Minister Duntarvie Castle James Morris Grocer Woodend Forrest's Co. [County] Map |
006 | [situation] In the S. [South] Eastern part of the parish of Abercorn. A large and ancient building three stories high and in middling repair; with a garden attached. tenanted by Revd. [Reverend] A. Currie Free Church minister. The property of Lord Hopetoun. I have been informed that it has merely been a private residence, built in a castellated form; and was never a place of strength. It was an ancient seat of the Durhams. James Durham the reformer visited there from Wedderburn in 1640, but it is supposed to be far older than that period. |
