002 | [Situation] Nearly 5/8 mile East of Newton village. Formerly this was the mansion house and offices of the estate of Duddingston; but a few years ago the estate became the property of the Earl of Hopetoun, who converted the mansion into a dwelling house and the offices into a farm Steading. The whole of the buildings are of a uniform style of architecture, the Gothic. South of the house is the garden. The present tenant is Mr. John Archibald, farmer. |
