002 | [Situation] About ¾ mile South of Abercorn village. An Extensive Wood of Forest & fir trees mixed, on the Hopetoun Estate, through which are several Roads or drives. It appears to have been formerly a Moor. In this Wood is situated the "Justice Stone" - mentioned in the Statistical account as "a Course Stone standing on End & where disputes are said to have been settled by the Barons & Magistrates in old times. It stands about 3 feet high & is about 3 feet long & two thick or broad. |
