A Small Stream which Commences in the Parish of Carriden, near Burnshot, and flows in a N.E. [North East] direction, to a short distance East from Blackness Castle where it Empties into the Firth of Forth. It forms the Parish Boundary between Abercorn and Carriden. |

[Description of Binns House]
"Binns House an irregular mass of building garnished with turrets and embrasures is beautifully placed on the slope of Binns Hill. It was built in 1623 and enlarged by the late proprietor. The park around is highly picturesque the grassy acclivities of the hill being interspersed with Scattered trees and groups of evergreens. The summit is Crowned with a high round tower forming a conspicuous land mark" New Stat. [Statistical] Account of Co [County] Linlithgow page 26

It is pleasantly situated on the West brow of Binns Hill, and commands an extensive view of the Surrounding Country. It is surrounded with a large demesne well stocked forest trees. and is the property of Sir William Dalyell Bart. [Baronet] it is occupied at present by Mr. McFarlane of Falkirk. |

[Situation] On the top of Binns Hill.
This is supposed, by the authorities quoted, to be the site of one of the Ancient Forts of the Origl. [Original]Inhabitants; they also think that is must have been Occupied by the Romans, either as a Camp or for Observation; but there is nothing positive as to Either in the Scant tradition transmitted. There is nothing at present of Escarpment or trenches [?] that Could be etched as a Fort, the Surface having been several times ploughed and otherwise improved. Binns Tower Stands within the Supposed Site of this Fort.

A conspicuous eminence in the north side of Binns demesne and Contiguous to the Mansion house. The view from its Summit is said to be Superior to any other that can be obtained in the County. |
