056; 066; 067 This is the principal river in the parish through which it runs in a South easterly direction until it joins the sea at Helmsdale where its mouth becomes the Harbour that village. It receives its waters from the large lochs at the upper end of the parish and other mountain streams & torrents that swell its downward course, and may be fairly classed as one of the second class rivers in Scotland. The name Extends from the Confluence of Allt Garbh & Abhainn Cnoc Fionn to the Sea.
