Put to flight leaving their leader - Capt. [Captain] Henry Sinclair and 140 of their best men dead on the ground. The Sinclairs fled and were pursued by the enemy to a place called Ault Gower now Bannockburn, near Auchintoul, where the conflict was renewed and the destruction of the Sinclairs Completed. In 1576 another battle was fought between the Mackays and the Gunns. The Mackays having invaded the lands belonging to the Gunns in Braemore Strathmore Strath-halladale and Strathy, carrying with them everything they could find, such as Cattle &c. The Gunns asembled all their forces and made a Similar attack on the property of their enemy. The latter instantly pursued the, Skirmishing all the way from Strathnever, to this place where they fought until their arrows were exhausted. At this crisis, a Small party of the Gunns of Kildonan came over the Side of Ben Gream Beag and completely routed, the Mackays.
