049 The remains of one of the ancient Dunes or Pictish Towers, situate on a small circular island, or rock in the bay almost at the head or S. [South] end of Loch Airdbhain a shelving rock connects it with the mainland at low water. Nothing now remains but a heap of loose stones. The present tenant on the farm (Mr. Begg of Cromarty) attempted to remove the stones for building purposes, but was warned by the natives to desist, the Superstition being that on removing the stones some dire calamity would befall the Country.
