Assynt. A parish in the presbytery of Dornoch and Synod of Sutherland and Caithness, Patron the Duke of Sutherland. It contains the Village of Lochinver and the hamlet of its own name in the vicinity of the Church. On the north it is bounded by the Minch and by the Kylecuich or Kyle Skou. from the eastern end of Loch Coul a line in a South-east direction across the Summits of the Mountains to Glash-ben forms the boundary between it and Edderachylis parish, The boundary line then turns South west for a distance of about 10 miles dividing it from Creich Parish and there are no detached parts of any other Parish locally Situate in this parish It contains about [blank] Statute acres. the greater portion of which is Moorland |
