022 This name applies to a large well built dwelling to Stories high Slated and in good repair, Situated about ten miles South of Durness, on the road leading from there to Laxford Bridge. The house was erected A.D. 1831 by the Marquis of Stafford to commemorate the construction of the road across the hitherto impassable waste of the Gualainne. It was Licensed as a public House up to Martimass 1872 when the License was removed to Riconnch, which is distant about five miles to the Southwest. The Mail distances to all the principal towns in the United Kingdom ar inscribed above the principal entrance His Grace the Duke of Sutherland proprietor.
