017 Adjoining the "Douglas Room" is a neat Pleasure ground, the ramparts around which afford a most delightful Promenade, and Commands a most extensive range of view on all Sides of the Surrounding Country, and is justly admired by all who visit it. On the Parapet of this rampart near to the Magazine, is a place called " Queen Mary's Look Out", so called it is Said from its being the Place where that Queen witnessed the tournaments and other amusements of the Court, which were carried on at a place called the King's Knot; the Initials MR and date 1566, are cut on the Parapet.
