028.12 "There is an old house in the hamlet of Arnbrae, a mile to the Westward of Kilsyth in which a room is still shown where Cromwell slept a night, and part of the table he used is preserved in an adjoining farmhouse." New Statistical Account.
This name applies to a farmhouse as well as to the small hamlet mentioned above, all the property of Sir Archibald Edmonstone Bart. [Baronet] The house, which is the only old one in the place, where Cromwell slept, is shown on the trace by being crossed, The table which he used, which was a rough deal table, was removed from the farmhouse, by one of the former Factor's for the Estate, several years ago,
