030.03 The situation of the Old Jail or Tolbooth of Falkirk was identical with the position of the Steeple and Lock up. it seems to have been a very small building and utterly inadequate to the requirements of the town even when Considerably less populous than at present It appears to have been erected subsequent to the granting of the Charter in 1646 and Continued to be used as a prison till the end of last Century when it was allowed to go to ruin.
There is no part of the original building remaining at present.
