A Suburban Village or district of Falkirk, And situated within the parliamentary Burgh Boundary of that town, it extends from its junction with Graham's Road which occurs adjacent to Herringhall farmsteading, Northward to the Forth and Clyde Canal, which disjoins it from the Village of Bainsford, communication with the latter plan is afforded by means of a draw Bridge. There are some excellent Cottages and dwelling houses built on the principal Street, and the greater portion of the latter are furnished with Shops. There are also Several minor Streets abutting off on either side of the main Street. There are two Schools and a Subpost Office also in the Village, but no Churches or Chapels. It is Said to have received its name from Sir John de Graham who was killed at the battle of Falkirk in 1298 adjacent to this place, and was named in consequence Grahamstown which was corrupted into Grahamston |
