024.09 This Roman Road, which is of considerable extent, leaves the Wall of Antoninus at Thomfuirhill, in the parish of Falkirk, and taking a northerly direction through the Co. [County] of Stirling, stretches far into Perthshire. No information in connection with it can be obtained in this locality, as there is not a vestige of the portion passing through the parish of Dunipace to be traced. It is generally supposed that it was along this road the English troops were marched to encounter the Scotch at the famous battle of Bannockburn in 1314, no other road existing in the locality at the time.
