Its head waters are gathered into two main streams, the one rising in Perthshire, and the other rising on the Northern side of Ben Lomond in Stirlingshire where it is Known by the name of Duchray Water, which Runs between Stirling & Perthshire for a Considerable distance, and eventually enters the latter Co: [County] where it is joined by its Kindred stream from the North. For the Most part after the junction the United Streams divides the two Counties of Stirling, and Perth. and even after the junction of the streams for 5 Miles it is known only by the name Avondow or BlacK River which name it bears till it is joined by the Kelly Water uniting with it from the West, from which junction it takes the name of Forth. It is now a considerable stream and still continues to divide (with but few exceptions) the Counties of Perth and Stirling and receives [Continued on page 12] |
