046.11 The remains of a conical mound, which is generally known to have been an ancient Tumulus: It is Situated a Short distance S.W. [South West] of "Plank," and about the same distance N.W. [North West] of "Houll:" upon the property of John Thomson Esqr of Houll. The remaining portion is the W. [West] side of the mound , the other portion being taken away for the purpose of road-making - the nature of the matter of which the mound is composed (burnt stones which were broken to the size of rough road metal) being peculiarly adapted for making or repairing roads,
