046.08 Applies to a large Cairn of stones &Boulders with a pile erected near the centre.which is visible from nearly all the surrounding district. It is situated near the south end of "Gallow Hill," on the Property of Mr. John Twatt of Voe, Walls. There is a considerable diversity of opinion as to what this object has been. There does not appear to be much doubt that it is an antiquity of some sort, but I have been unable to get any proper authority to express a distinct opinion as to its nature.
