This name applies to a large district of cultivated land lying on the East side of Yell and embraces several small districts. It extends from the boundary wall on the north end of Otterswick (district) following the above wall to the public road. Then it extends in a Southward direction along the above mentioned road to the houses of Holligarth where it joins the Boundary Wall of Gossaburgh and extends along said wall till it joins the head of Whinnifirth on the sea coast a little to the south of Gossabrough. The houses are chiefly one storey thatched and in middling good repair, there is a parochial school and a few small shops, one with license to retail spirits, beer and porter to be consumed on the premises.
