047.03 | The remains of a Picts' House: It re- presents the appearances of a green mound on account of the masonry being Covered with rubbish and overgrown with grass. On account of it being partly opened by the natives a portion of the building is visible, which shews: that it is Similar in construction to all the other buildings of the Kind in Orkney & Shetland. It is situated about a quarter of a mile S.W. [South West] of Tresta & upon the property of A. F Greig Esqr. of Sandsound. The above is most probably one of those Pictish cairns (Cumls) so numerous in this district |
