053.13 | Is the principal street in Lerwick and extends along the whole length of the Burgh from Fort Charlotte on the north to the Old House of Leog on the south. It runs parallel to the western shore of Bressay Sound and within a very short distance of the water, glimpses of which can be got through many narrow lanes leading of the Street. The two Hotels and all the principal places of Business in the Burgh are situated in this Street. Its greatest drawback is the irregularity of the Buildings and the narrowness of the thoroughfare rendering it almost useless for Veichls. |
