014.02 A good substantial farm house, with arable & pasture Lands attached, it was formerly called Altrieve Cottage, but when the farm was incorporated with Eldinhope, "The Ettrick Shepherd" who was living in it then, named it Altrieve Lake, which it has retained, to the exclusion of the more ancient name
The two farms now form an extensive sheep walk, with a small proportion of arable land.
