013 A large hill, of about 1900 feet altitude, it lies to the west of the source of Altrieve Lake, and is the most huge and prominent, between that and the head of St. Mary's Loch on the west, it is almost totally covered with peat moss, coarse grass & heather, it belongs partly to
the Duke of Buccleuch & partly to Lord Napier of Thirlsane.

013 A spur of the above hill, which projects from it to the North West, the name is supposed to be derived from the Saugh trees which formerly grew upon it.
