003.12 A Toll-Bar on the road leading from Edinburgh to SelKirK &c. there is also a Side Bar on the Occupation Road leading to "Crosslee Farmhouse". There is a good Cottage occupied by the Toll Keeper. It is the property of the Road Trustees.

003.12 A Small bridge of one arch crossing a Small Stream and on an Occupation Road, leading from "Torwoodlee" to the Turnpike Road, near "Crosslee", the arch is Small but the battlements, are about five feet high. It is Supposed to have taken the name from the man by whom it was built, but this is not certain.
