011.03 Is on the south side of Yarrow Water about 1½ miles north of Bowhill: it was a fortified castle surrounded by a stoney wall, and constructed, similarly to those generally termed Peel Towers. the roof has fallen in, but the walls and the dungeon are in good preservation: it was erected by one of the ancestors of the Duke of Buccleuch.
