007.16 This hill forms the Eastern continuation of the Three Brethren and rises to nearly the same height. The north side, steep and rocky is thickly covered with heather, a thriving fir plantation extends along the East and the gradual slope towards the South has to a greater extent admitted of tillage.

007.16 This name is given to a track of land at present uncultivated, it is situated in the valley between the Peat Law and Hareshaw Hill, near to, where the bridle road crosses the Shorthope Burn. A part of this valley belonged formerly to the Abbey of Melrose and is supposed to have been under cultivation at that time, the exact spot has never been recognized but the name has been retained by the proprietor.
