008.09 A small rocky promontory on the banks of the River Tweed about ¾ of a mile below Yair Bridge It is supposed that a "cairn" of Stones was raised here to commemorate the death of a person of that name. no vestige of it remains now

008.09 A small solitary piece of rock in the middle of the River Tweed, about half way between Yair and Tweed Bridges. at a time prior to these being built, a well known ford was near this place, and the "Riding Stone" at that time served a very useful purpose and consequently became generally known, in time of floods etc. it served as a Beacon to warn those about to cross of danger according to the depths it was submerged
