007.12 | A "Salmon cast" on the river tweed So called, It appears that a person of the name of Turnbull occupied a house on the Galashiels' side of the River at this place, in which house the said Turnbull cut his throat, The house was afterwards inhabited by a Schoolmaster named Innes, who (in order to assist him to prevail with the Landlord in obtaining a new house), Gave out that the house was haunted by Turnbulls Ghost, or by a Bogle, and from which circumstance, the Pool in front of the house obtained & still bears the name of the Bogle Pool. |
