Parish Church, Manse, and School, two Inns, a Couple of Small grocery stores and a few other buildings, the majority of which are only one story high with gardens attached, being feus, and the Property of His Grace the Duke of Buccleuch. There is no Post Office in the Village, but letters etc. are collected three times a week by a Post-car which runs betwixt Selkirk, and Thirlestane.
