037 | [Situation] On the Boundary Common to Teviothead and Ewes Parishes. A deep glen with a stream running through it, and which bears the name at its Junction with Long Grain, at Moss Paul, In the charter of Lands granted by the Earl of Angus to the Abbey of Melrose this place is called "Penangushoip". The name is not much known but the way in which the Shepherds pronounce it is "Glimpineagle" or "Glimpenaga". Mr. Kennedy is by far the best authority that I have met, and he calls it "Penangus Hope". |
