008.05 A Small portion of land but now planted, containing 1/4 of An Acre. which was granted for the Keeping of the "Cross" in Melrose "MarKet Place", in repair - it always belongs to the Estate of "Priorbank" And the owner of which is bound to Keep the "Cross" in proper repair It is Situated about half a mile south of the Town.
One fourth of an Acre of the present plantation is the Corse Rig but what part this 1/4 Acre should come off is not Known.

008.05 A Small wooded Ravine, with a rivulet running through it And extending from the Turnpike road, leading from Melrose to St Boswells etc to the west end of the Village of "Newstead" the wood was originally all "Oak", but the trees have been Cut down, And the dean planted with mixed wood. It is the property of Mr Mitchell "Oakendean House" -
