A Small district of good Arable land, Situated on each Side of a portion the road leading from Melrose to Darnick Commencing at the Lane east of the Free Church, And extending to "Wellbank" It is bounded on the north, by the road leading from Melrose to Galashiels, As far as Trinity Cottage, And then by the Bleach Field, And on the the South by the north British Railway - All of this district which is Situated on the north Side of the Road leading to Darnick has been fued, and a superior Class of houses erected upon it Amongst which may be mentioned The Parsonage, & Holy Trinity Church And on the South Side of the road, And nearer to the east, is the Free church, St. John's, (a residence) - And The Anchorage - all of which, are excellent buildings |
